Karen W. Spero, CFP® Chairman Emeritus
Karen is Chairman Emeritus of Spero-Smith Investment Advisers, Inc., the successor to Spero Financial Services, Inc. which she founded in 1972. In addition to her professional and education credentials, she has received special recognition as a Certified Financial Planner® throughout her career.
She was Staff Financial Advisor for WEWS-Channel 5's "Morning Exchange" for more than 22 years. She has also been a financial commentator of both radio and TV. She has been frequently quoted by both national and local media sources, including "Wall Street Journal," "USA Today", "Smart Money Magazine," and for the last seven years has been named to Worth Magazine's 250 Best Financial Planners in the country.
Karen received a BS/Business Administration from Lake Erie College. She became a Certified Financial Planner® in 1978. She completed the requirements of the Center for Fiduciary Studies in Pittsburgh to be certified to perform fiduciary audits on retirement plans AIFA® .
She has held leadership positions in the industry throughout her career, including being a member of the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Financial Planners from 1996-1998; the Charles Schwab Advisory Board from 1994-1996; Past President of the NE Ohio chapter of the IAFP, and is currently on the Raymond James Financial Advisory Board and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the "Journal of Financial Planning" magazine. She is also serving as Vice Chair, Lake Erie College Board of Trustees.
